An RM Kaleidos Learning Platform and anytime, anywhere access gives teachers the ability to use a wide range of feature-rich resources to create innovative and exciting lessons that will stimulate and inspire.
They can make optimal use of their PPA time and concentrate on working with and supporting learners. It gives them the freedom to teach.
Paul, an English teacher, notices a popular debate on his school's forum about marking at the school and realises some of the discussion concerns his own marking. Reading the posts, he's actually pleasantly surprised about the maturity shown within the debate.
The online forum is an excellent arena for students to exercise their developing communication skills, and the security features provide the appropriate mechanisms for teachers or moderators to intervene if the need arises.
Students' opinions are split down the middle, but Paul is compelled to pitch in with his own tactful (and tactical!) contributions. By the time the forum winds down, Paul's students have a much better understanding of how their work is marked and will hopefully take this learning on board.
The exchange also prompts Paul to make better use of the feedback features on the learning platform - it's a great vehicle for staff-pupil dialogue about specific assignments. Paul can choose to make comments and suggestions about areas for improvement; the student can respond, and an online 'comment book' allows the teacher to record both formative and summative assessment along with comments and targets.
The learning platform has brought Paul and his students closer together, at least in terms of their understanding of one another, and encourages Paul to use other aspects of the VLE he might have ignored before.
